Mini-Marathon, SATs preparation, and the announcement of our school production!

This is only some of the good stuff, read the whole newsletter here

Year 6 SATs

Our Falcons staff team have been working closely with Year 6 pupils to prepare them for their SATs assessments during the week of 11th May. We are very proud of how hard the children have worked and wish them every success.

Mini-marathon success

Our recent Mini-Marathon was a fantastic event, with children and staff showing great enthusiasm and determination. A huge thank you to Mr Allen, staff and parent volunteers for organising and supporting the day.

We are delighted to share that the event has raised £2,464 and counting, with funds being shared between school and Young Lives vs Cancer.

Attendance

Our current attendance stands at 91.8%, compared with 94.82% nationally. We continue to work together as a school community to improve attendance so that all children can make the most of their learning opportunities and thrive.

Community and events

David Attenborough celebration

A reminder that on Friday 8th May, we will be celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday with an Animal Parade. Children are invited to come to school dressed in animal-themed outfits.

We will also be collecting donations for Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, supporting local wildlife conservation.

Compass coffee morning

Our Compass Coffee Morning will take place on Thursday 11th June (9–10am). This will be an opportunity to meet Nat Coxon and learn more about the support available for children and families.

Online safety sessions

We are continuing to offer online safety workshops for parents and carers:

  • 12th May (6pm): Photo and video sharing – risks and boundaries
  • 18th June (6pm): Recap session

Important reminders

Sun safety

With warmer weather arriving, please ensure children bring a named sunhat and have sun cream applied before school. Children may bring their own sun cream but should be able to apply it independently.

After school clubs

Please note that after school clubs will be cancelled on:

  • Monday 8th June
  • Tuesday 23rd June
  • Friday 10th July
  • The final week of term (from 20th July)

Snacks

Please ensure that grapes are cut before being brought into school, as whole grapes are a choking hazard.

ParentPay

Please check your ParentPay account regularly and ensure that payments and permissions are kept up to date.

Health and safety

Village hall car park

Please continue to take care when using the Village Hall car park. Children should remain with their adult at all times.

Children riding bikes should dismount at the top of the drive and walk their bikes through the car park to ensure everyone’s safety.

Whole school production

We are excited to announce that this year’s whole school production will be “Hoodwinked!”

Children will begin learning songs soon, and roles will be cast over the coming weeks. We are looking forward to lots of rehearsals and are sure it will be a fantastic performance for everyone to enjoy.
